Cambridge
Street:
- Directly across Cambridge Street from the White Building entrance is a neighborhood Italian restaurant, Antonio's [286 Cambridge Street, (617) 367-3310]. Their lunch prices are very reasonable, portion sizes are ample, and are served until 3PM.
- If you like Mexican food, head for Anna's Taqueria. They feature "super burritos", tacos, quesadillas and the like, all for around $5.00 [From the Yawkey/White/Wang Buildings, take a left onto Cambridge Street to 242 Cambridge Street, (617) 227-8822]
- As of the Spring of 2009, there is wonderful, new gourmet sandwich/pizza restaurant in the neighborhood. The Federal will make you a delicious, gourmet sandwich for about $7.00. They offer a nice selection of sandwiches; or, if you prefer, you can create your own sandwich combination. They make some of their own bread, and the rest they get from the best bakeries in the city. [Continue to the left down Cambridge Street from the hospital. The Federal is located next to the fire station at 204 Cambridge Street, (617) 391-0025.]
- You can also get deli sandwiches, wraps, salads, frozen yogurt, and the like at Café Podima. Double stacked sandwiches run about $7.50. [Continue on Cambridge Street to 156 Cambridge Street, (617) 227-4959].
- If you like a pub atmosphere, the Red Hat is a Boston landmark. From the Café Podima, continue walking down Cambridge Street one more block until you get to the corner of Cambridge and Bowdoin Streets. The food is "all-American" and quite reasonably priced. Monday and Tuesday, they feature 10 cent chicken wings after 5PM. [9 Bowdoin Street, (617) 523-2175, Red Hat]
Charles
Street:
- One block down Charles Street from the Yawkey Building entrance there is a great Thai restaurant, The King & I [145 Charles Street, (617) 227-3320, King & I].
- Continuing down Charles Street, you will find a plethora of dining establishments (most are a bit pricey).
- However, if you are looking for a coffee shop/breakfast place, The Paramount is your best choice. They specialize in Belgian waffles with piles of fresh fruit, eggs made any way you can imagine, huge pancakes, and other griddle goodies. [44 Charles Street, (617) 720-1152, The Paramount].
- A half a block further down Charles Street is the Upper Crust Pizzeria. You can get a huge slice of pizza and a small salad for around $ 6.00. If you show them your "T" CharlieCard, you will get a 10% discount, too! [20 Charles Street, (617) 723-9600, Upper Crust Pizzeria]
